Before life at Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School, Elizabeth and Trinity were shy about participating in sports. Since starting school, they have trained for and competed in several Special Olympics Events such as ringette, basketball, soccer, track & field, and bocce. They both competed on the Cross-Country Running team this fall, which earned them the Athletes of the Month Award in October. Elizabeth and Trinity love being active, learning new skills and also enjoy the social aspect that playing sports brings.
Elizabeth and Trinity have also branched out in their community by participating in the Special Olympics Swimming Club after school where they meet up with old friends who have previously graduated. At a recent Special Olympics Swimming event, they both got a personal best in the freestyle race. Whether playing sports in the gym, running at the track or swimming at the pool, Elizabeth and Trinity work hard to improve their skills and always have a huge smile on their face. The twins have gained so much self-confidence through their participation in a variety Special Olympics events and are thriving on the field and court – they cannot wait for the Invitational Youth Games!
